10-man FC Dallas holds off Seattle to earn draw
FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas played with 10 men for the majority of the night, the Seattle Sounders failed to capitalize and the match ended in a scoreless draw Saturday night.
Kellyn Acosta received a red card for a high kick in the 18th minute and FC Dallas (3-0-1) failed to open the season with a fourth straight win for the first time in club history.
Chad Barrett narrowly missed wide left on a couple of the best chances for Seattle (1-1-1), a point-blank header in the 54th and a breakaway in the 72nd.
Fabian Castillo had the best look for FC Dallas in the 55th minute but missed on a right-footed attempt from outside the box.
The Sounders traveled with a depleted lineup due to international call-ups and injuries, most notably Clint Dempsey, who suffered a hamstring injury while training with the U.S. national team in Europe.
