MLS Game Summary - New York at Columbus
Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Red Bull New York continued its hot start under Jesse Marsch by claiming a 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew SC at Mapfre Stadium on Saturday.
After a draw at Sporting Kansas City and a home win over D.C. United, the Red Bulls maintained its impressive form under their new head coach by opening the scoring in Saturday's affair.
Lloyd Sam drew a foul from Emanuel Pogatetz early in the second half and Bradley Wright-Phillips converted the ensuing penalty for his second goal in as many games.
Tony Tchani leveled the score in the 58th minute as a loose ball squirted the back post where the former Red Bulls midfielder was arriving to tuck home with ease.
The Red Bulls, though, went on to collect three points after Mike Grella pounced a giveaway from Michael Parkhurst in the 67th minute and chipped a splendid shot past Steve Clark from distance.
The result sends New York to the top of the Eastern Conference table with seven points, four points better than Columbus.
