Both the United States and Seattle Sounders will be without their captain in the coming weeks.
The U.S. men's national team announced Tuesday that striker Clint Dempsey suffered a right hamstring injury during a training session Monday, and as a result will miss the upcoming friendly matches against Denmark and Switzerland.
Dempsey, 32, returned to Seattle to undergo treatment from club doctors.
Should he be out of action for the full three weeks, the American star will miss MLS matches against the Houston Dynamo (April 4) and LA Galaxy (April 12).
