Report: Chivas USA to suspend operations following MLS season
Struggling Major League Soccer club Chivas USA will suspend operations following the current season, ESPNFC.com reports.
The report says the league agreed to sell the team to an unknown investment group for around $100 million.
The suspension of operations is a condition associated with the sale and will last for a minimum of two years while plans and construction of a new stadium is completed.
Following this period, the team will also have a new name and a new home, likely in Exposition Park where the Los Angeles Sports Arena currently sits.
The club has been under MLS ownership since the league purchased them in February.
Chivas USA currently sit at the bottom of the Western Conference with 24 points and are on pace to finish bottom of the conference for a third consecutive season.
