MLS Game Summary - Vancouver at Portland
Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Fanendo Adi helped the Portland Timbers claim just their second win from six outings, scoring two goals in the club's 3-0 defeat of Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Providence Park on Saturday.
Portland, which entered the match on two successive draws, went in front after 28 minutes when Diego Valeri took a pass from Jorge Villafana and slammed a superb volley past David Ousted.
Adi then seized control of the match by netting two goals in the span of three minutes.
The first came in the 66th minute when he latched on to Valeri's through ball and slipped a shot past the on-rushing Ousted.
Adi tacked on another goal shortly after in similar fashion as he collected a well-weighted pass from Darlington Nagbe and fired a shot through Ousted's legs.
Vancouver offered little on the attacking end, allowing the Timbers to close out the match with their three-goal margin in tact.
Portland climbs to 39 points on the season to move two points clear of Vancouver.
