Atlanta United star Martinez stretchered off in season opener

Atlanta United striker Josef Martinez was carried off the pitch during Saturday's game against Nashville SC after attempting to play through an apparent injury.

Adam Jahn replaced Martinez in the 68th minute of Atlanta's 2-1 win.

The 26-year-old scoring sensation appeared to suffer the injury while chasing a loose ball. Martinez returned to play but motioned for a substitution shortly after re-entering the pitch.

The 2018 MLS Golden Boot winner scored 27 goals last season.
