Michael Bradley is officially returning to Toronto FC.

Toronto signed the 32-year-old, who was set to become a free agent at the end of December, to a new contract using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), the club announced.

"I feel so attached to the city of Toronto, the club, the team. I love it here and I am really proud of what we've been able to do over the past six years," Bradley said.

The deal is for three years, he confirmed.

The new contract opens up one of Toronto's three Designated Player spots for the 2020 campaign. Bradley was a DP alongside Alejandro Pozuelo and Jozy Altidore last season and earned $6.5 million.

Bradley has appeared in 200 matches for the Canadian club and has lifted eight trophies, including the MLS Cup in 2017, during his six-year tenure.

The captain played an integral role in leading Toronto to the MLS Cup last season for the third time in four campaigns - TFC lost 3-1 to the Seattle Sounders.

"Michael Bradley has led this club in the biggest games we've played in during his time at Toronto FC and is our engine," club president Bill Manning said. "Michael and his family have made Toronto their home and we are all very happy that they will continue to be part of our club for years to come."

Bradley has scored 13 goals and provided 28 assists in all competitions since joining Toronto from Italian club AS Roma in 2014.
