The LA Galaxy have revived efforts to sign Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle.

One source told Carlisle that talks between the Galaxy and Ibrahimovic are further than they've ever been.

The two sides reportedly discussed a deal last year, but rumors of a switch died down when Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury. The big Swede ended up signing a new one-year contract with United in the summer.

Galaxy president Chris Klein previously said the "doors are open" for Ibrahimovic to join the five-time MLS champion. The Carson-based side also owns his MLS rights, meaning it would have first dibs at signing the 36-year-old if he accepts a move to the United States.

A setback in Ibrahimovic's recovery has curtailed his effectiveness in his second season at Old Trafford, as he's made just one start in the Premier League this season.

The arrival of Alexis Sanchez, coupled with the form of both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial, could also cost Ibrahimovic precious minutes in the second half of the campaign.
