Moutinho joins a backline that already boasts 2015 MLS Defender of the Year recipient Laurent Ciman and 24-year-old Walker Zimmerman.
A product of Sporting CP's famous academy, Moutinho played primarily as a left-back during his time at the Portuguese club and later as a centre-back at the University of Akron.
LAFC then acquired right-back Tristan Blackmon after trading $200,000 in allocation money to D.C. United for the third overall pick.
