United States attacker Alex Morgan has been named CONCACAF Women's Player of the Year for a record third time.

Morgan previously won the award in 2013 and 2016. The annual honour is voted upon by Member Association women's and men's national team coaches and captains, fans, and select media.

A whirlwind campaign for the 28-year-old saw Morgan win a treble of a league title, domestic cup, and the Champions League with Lyon while appearing in 14 matches for the United States, bagging a team-best seven goals over that spell.

"I just want to thank everyone who voted for me for CONCACAF Female Player of the Year. It’s such a great honor to be named this," Morgan told CONCACAF's official website. "To all the fans who followed me throughout France and to the U.S., thank you so much for all that motivation. It really means a lot."

Sky Blue FC and Australian international Sam Kerr finished second in voting, with Canadian talisman and Portland Thorns forward Christine Sinclair coming third.
