Toronto FC signs Liechtenstein's Nicolas Hasler

As someone who was born in Liechtenstein, Nicolas Hasler is used to being on the losing end of results like 8-0, 4-0, and 5-0. But the right wing-back will likely be spared of such thrashings in Major League Soccer, particularly as he joined a club that boasts 11 victories from 19 games this season.

On Thursday, Toronto FC signed Hasler, making him Liechtenstein's first player to join MLS. He'll be added to the TFC's squad upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and Canadian work permit.

"Nicolas is an experienced and valued member of his national team playing in Euro and World Cup qualifiers," Tim Bezbatchenko, TFC's general manager, said. "We are pleased to bring Nicolas to Toronto FC. He will be a welcomed addition to our group and provide greater depth for our club.

Hasler, who has two goals to his name through 45 caps for his country, last played for FC Vaduz, a Liechtenstein-based club that competes in the Challenge League, the second division of Swiss football. According to Sportsnet's John Molinaro, he left after he was unable to come to terms with the team on a new contract.
