United States coach Bruce Arena was forced to make a late change to his squad ahead of the country's World Cup qualifiers later this month after an injury forced Bobby Wood to withdraw.
New York Red Bulls' Sacha Kljestan was called up to replace the Hamburg player, who is dealing with a back injury.
Meanwhile, Sporting KC defender Matt Besler has also been added to the team as a defensive reinforcement.
The announcement comes less than a week before the U.S. hosts a World Cup qualifier against Honduras before traveling south to play Panama.
The United States currently sits last in the final CONCACAF qualifying stage after losing its opening two matches against Mexico and Costa Rica, respectively.
