Schwarber gives catcher's mitts to delighted youth
Kyle Schwarber visited with members of an RBI junior all-star team on Sunday and one kid in particular received a couple of incredible surprises courtesy of the Chicago Cubs slugger.
Fifteen-year-old catcher Jose Alvarado, who had his mitt broken prior to the game he was scheduled to play in, was given an interesting replacement by Schwarber.
"The kid's a catcher," Schwarber explained to Mike Oz of Yahoo Sports. "He needs a catcher's mitt. I just had one of the guys go run back there and grab mine. It was definitely cool for him. He's like, 'How'd you get it (broken in) like that?' I told him, 'It takes some time.'"

After Alvarado and his teammates played to a 12-7 victory over an Arizona club, he gave the mitt back to Schwarber, who then presented him with another gift. A brand new catcher's mitt with the handle Kyle Schwarber attached to its side.
"It's amazing," Alvarado said, "that he handed me a glove twice today."
