The New York Yankees have agreed to a minor-league deal with journeyman outfielder Chris Denorfia, general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday.
Denorfia's deal includes an opt-out clause if he fails to crack the 25-man Opening Day roster.
He'll be competing with Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, Carlos Beltran, Aaron Hicks, and Dustin Ackley for time in the outfield.
The 35-year-old hit .269/.319/.373 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 103 games for the Chicago Cubs last season.
