The Baltimore Orioles avoided arbitration with Brian Matusz on Thursday, agreeing to a one-year, $3.9-million deal with the southpaw, as first reported by MASN's Roch Kubatko.
Matusz had filed for a $4.4-million salary in 2016, while the team countered at $3.5 million.
The deal will carry the 28-year-old through his final year of team control, making him a free agent this fall.
Matusz compiled a 2.94 ERA over 49 innings of work last season, holding left-handed hitters to a .186/.231/.333 slash line.
Closer Zach Britton is the last unsigned arbitration-eligible player remaining on the club's roster.
