Jed Lowrie: Dealt to Oakland
Lowrie has been traded to the Athletics, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
The Astros will receive minor league right-hander Brendan McCurry from Oakland in the deal. Lowrie, who's due to make $7.5 million in 2016, is capable of playing second base, third base and shortstop, and at this point it's unclear where Oakland plans to use him long-term. The 31-year-old played primarily at third base last season, appearing in just 69 total games while battling injuries to his thumb, foot and quad.
