Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero appears to have avoided a serious injury after getting hit in the helmet by a foul ball in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game.
Montero was standing on deck waiting to pinch hit for David Ross when Tommy La Stella's foul ball ricocheted off Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud's mask and hit Montero square on the Cubs' "C."
Montero walked away uninjured, but struck out in his only plate appearance of Game 4.
The New York Mets are returning to the World Series for the first time since 2000 after sweeping the Chicago Cubs with an 8-3 win in Game 4.
Daniel Murphy's record-setting sixth straight game with a home run capped a dominant series from the Mets, who became sixth team in MLB history to sweep a best-of-seven series while never trailing.
