Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez wasted no time making a contribution while filling in for the injured Addison Russell.
The 22-year-old got his first postseason start in Game 4 on Tuesday and launched a three-run blast off St. Louis Cardinals starter John Lackey in the second inning, giving Chicago a 4-2 lead at Wrigley Field.

Facing elimination, Lackey was spotted an early two-run lead, but encountered trouble in the second. With two outs and runners on first and second, the Cardinals right-hander allowed an RBI single to opposing pitcher Jason Hammel before serving up the home run to Baez.
Lackey had previously gone 74 2/3 postseason innings without allowing a home run.
