LOS ANGELES - Yasiel Puig is still ''rusty'' as he works his way back from a hamstring injury that cost him the final month of the season, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are still evaluating whether the Cuban outfielder will be on their playoff roster.

Puig took part in a simulated game on Tuesday against different Dodgers pitchers, including left-hander Brett Anderson and reliever Juan Nicasio. He played in the last two games of the regular season, getting a hit in the only game he started, after a strained right hamstring had sidelined him since late August.

Manager Don Mattingly says Puig looks like someone who hasn't played in a while, although he says that doesn't mean the enigmatic fan favorite wouldn't do something good once the playoffs begin.

The playoff roster is due Friday.
