The Los Angeles Dodgers promoted highly touted prospect Julio Urias to Triple-A Oklahoma on Monday, marking the latest step in the left-hander's remarkable climb through the club's minor-league system.
Urias, 19, was scheduled to make his Triple-A debut Monday shortly after receiving the call-up.
A consensus top-10 prospect in baseball, Urias dominated over 13 starts at Double-A Tulsa this season, managing a stingy 2.77 ERA and 0.99 WHIP across 68 1/3 innings. He struck out 109 batters in just 87 2/3 innings last year at the Class-A level.
Born with an eye condition that required multiple operations during his childhood, Urias missed two months earlier this season because of elective surgery on his left eye.
