Walker dazzles as Mariners down Twins
Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports
Taijuan Walker has never pitched better.
The Seattle Mariners right-hander put on a show Friday night in Minneapolis, dominating the Minnesota Twins. He threw a complete game, allowing only one hit - a solo home run to Miguel Sano - and tied his career high by striking out 11.
The Mariners won 6-1, and Walker joined elite Seattle company with his brilliant performance:
Walker improved to 8-7 with the win, and dropped his ERA to 4.73. He went into Friday night's game with a 6.26 ERA in July, having allowed 19 earned runs in 27 1/3 innings, so let's say he made up for some lost time Friday night.
The complete game was the second of Walker's career, and the 22-year-old's sublime effort snapped a four-game Seattle losing streak.
