The Los Angeles Dodgers placed infielder Justin Turner on the 15-day disabled list Friday, days after being released from the hospital with a leg infection.

Turner was sent to the emergency room by the team's medical staff Tuesday after a pimple on his leg became infected, but the Dodgers were hopeful he'd avoid the DL. It is unclear how long he will be out of the lineup.

The 30-year-old is having a great season in 2015, with his 13 home runs leaving him one shy of doubling the career-high he set a season ago. His slugging percentage of .563 would sit him in the top 10 in all of baseball if he had enough plate appearances to qualify.

The Dodgers also optioned pitchers Zach Lee and Mike Bolsinger to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
