Chris Sale has record-setting game in win over Cubs

Chris Sale has a knack for rewriting the history books.

The Chicago White Sox starter fanned 10 batters over seven innings of work in a 5-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. In the process, he became the first player since 1900 to strike out 10 batters in seven consecutive road outings.

To say that Sale has been good this season would be an understatement. With his latest double-digit strikeout game, it was the 10th time this season he accomplished the feat.

In fact, Sale has struck out at least 10 batters in nine of his last 10 starts. He's also coming off a streak where he earned double-digit strikeouts in eight consecutive starts before the Toronto Blue Jays ended that streak on July 6.

The win comes in what was expected to be a pitchers' duel against Cubs starter Jon Lester. Though he was average, five runs over seven innings, average doesn't cut it against arguably the hottest pitcher in the American League.
