Marlins to reinstate Michael Morse, option Jarred Cosart to Triple-A
The Miami Marlins are set to welcome Michael Morse back to the lineup, when the club reinstates him Sunday.
Though the club is still down Giancarlo Stanton, the addition of Morse will ideally infuse some pop into an otherwise lacklustre offense. In order to make room for Morse, the Marlins optioned Jarred Cosart to Triple-A New Orleans.
Morse has been sidelined since being placed on the disabled list on May 26 with a sprained finger.
In what has been a disappointing start to his Marlins career, where he inked a two-year, $18-million deal in December, Morse has done anything but live up to the hype.
The club signed him with hopes that his bat would add some protection in the lineup for Stanton. In response, Morse is batting .211/.268/.289 with two home runs and 39 strikeouts through 37 games.
