Los Angeles Angels shortstop Erick Aybar is listed as day-to-day after departing Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers in the fifth inning due to left hamstring tightness. He was was trying to beat out a bunt when the injury occurred.

Manager Mike Scioscia told reporters that he doesn't expect Aybar to land on the disabled list, but isn't willing to pencil him into the lineup until he's fully healthy.

Coming into Thursday's game, the 31-year-old had a .271/.316/.326 slash line with 14 RBIs in 47 games.

The Angels inconsistent offense can't afford to lose Aybar for an extended period of time. Since May 3, he's hit .344 (32-for-93).

"He's as important as anyone on our team," Scioscia said.
