Jennings earns 1st win as manager with Marlins' win over Orioles
In a fitting manner, Dan Jennings' first victory as the Miami Marlins bench boss came under some rather bizarre circumstances.
The Marlins were able to edge out the Baltimore Orioles in 13 innings on Saturday night, but not before Jennings pulled off his first managerial checkmate.
Jennings challenged the officiating crew to check out Orioles reliever Brian Matusz, who was ultimately ejected for having a foreign substance on his arm.
An inning later, the Marlins walked off in dramatic fashion.
Martin Prado lined a base hit to right-center field, scoring the go-ahead run and snapping an eight-game skid, while handing Jennings his first win in six tries.

But the way Jennings sees it, it's about the team and nothing else.
"This is not about me," Jennings said. "Am I thrilled to have a first win as a manager? You bet. But much more important to me as a manager is to break an eight-game losing streak."
In the process, he became the fifth manager in MLB history to have his first career win and first career loss come in extra innings.
