Orioles reliever leaves game after umps inspect his forearm

MIAMI (AP) Baltimore Orioles reliever Brian Matusz has left the game against the Miami Marlins in the 12th inning after the umpire crew chief inspected the left-hander's right forearm.

With the score 0-0, Matusz retired the first two batters before new Marlins manager Dan Jennings approached home plate umpire Jordan Baker. Baker and crew chief Paul Emmel then went to the mound to talk with Matusz.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter joined the conversation, and there was no argument from him as Matusz left the game.

The Brewers' Will Smith was suspended for eight games by Major League Baseball on Friday for having a foreign substance on his arm in Thursday's loss to the Braves.
