VIDEO: Angels' Trout avoids tag with absurd slide vs. Red Sox
Mike Trout is Mike Trout because he does things on a baseball diamond that no one else can.
On Friday night, for instance, Trout demonstrated that he doesn't even need to beat the catcher's throw to successfully steal a base.
In the fifth inning of Friday's series opener at Fenway Park, the 23-year-old phenom completely hornswoggled third baseman Brock Holt with a remarkable slide as he attempted to swipe third base, deftly maneuvering his body around the tag to collect his eighth steal of the season.

Trout was initially called out on the play, but the ruling was overturned following a brief video review. Heading into Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox, incidentally, Trout hadn't stolen a base in 11 straight contests. Over that span, however, the reigning MVP hit .310/.408/.548 with three home runs and six walks.
