Ichiro Suzuki bolstered his Hall of Fame credentials Friday evening in Miami when he passed history's most celebrated baseball player on the all-time hits list.
Suzuki, who signed a one-year deal with the Marlins this winter, collected the 2,874th hit of his remarkable MLB career with a second-inning single against the Baltimore Orioles, surpassing Babe Ruth.

In the midst of his 15th stateside season, Suzuki's single brought him within 126 hits of the illustrious 3,000 mark, though the 41-year-old has compiled a total of 4,152 professional hits between his stints in Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball.
Pete Rose holds the all-time record in Major League Baseball with 4,256 hits and remains one of just two players in history - along with Ty Cobb - to reach the vaunted 4,000 mark.
