Rockies' De La Rosa claims franchise strikeout record
Veteran left-hander Jorge De La Rosa etched his name into the Colorado Rockies' record book Thursday afternoon, collecting his 774th career strikeout with the club to claim the all-time franchise lead.
Acquired by the Rockies prior to the 2008 season, De La Rosa entered Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies just four strikeouts shy of Ubaldo Jimenez for first place on the franchise's all-time leaderboard. The 34-year-old grabbed sole possession of first place when he fanned Freddy Galvis in the bottom of the fourth inning for his fifth strikeout of the game.
Though injuries and ineffectiveness have marred De La Rosa's eight-year stint in Colorado, the seasoned southpaw trails only Aaron Cook for the franchise lead in wins (72). De La Rosa also remains fourth in Rockies history with 886 innings pitched, managing a 4.27 ERA (106 ERA+) with a 1.35 WHIP throughout his tenure in Colorado.
