Hyun-Jin Ryu: Has Shoulder Surgery, Done For Season
Ryu had shoulder surgery Thursday and will be out for the rest of the 2015 season, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
Analysis:
It was announced Wednesday that he would have surgery, and now he can be safely dropped in all single-season leagues. Manager Don Mattingly said there was a good chance Ryu would be ready for spring training in 2016. Some combination of Michael Bolsinger, Joe Wieland, Zach Lee and perhaps a pitcher who is not yet on the roster will attempt to hold down the fifth starter spot for the Dodgers over the rest of the season. Carlos Frias appears to have a pretty firm hold on the No. 4 spot in the rotation.
