Angels designate Butera for assignment

Los Angeles Angels catcher Drew Butera was designated for assignment Monday, Angels Director of Communications Eric Kay reports.
Analysis:
Butera had served as the club's backup catcher behind Chris Iannetta to this point, but has struggled offensively with a slash line of just .190/.190/.190. He'll head to the minors for the time being while Carlos Perez will head to the majors and serve as the second option behind the plate.
