Blue Jays demote struggling rookie Dalton Pompey to minors
The Toronto Blue Jays optioned rookie outfielder Dalton Pompey and left-hander Andrew Albers to Triple-A Buffalo after Friday's 9-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians.
Pompey, who went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, is hitting just .193/.264/.337 through 24 games.
The speedy 22-year-old debuted to impressive results in 2014, posting a .738 across 17 games as a late-season call up.
Albers, meanwhile, returns to Buffalo less than 24 hours after getting promoted to the Blue Jays bullpen. The left-hander, who was making his first major-league appearance since 2013, gave up a three-run homer to the first batter he faced in relief Friday before finishing his outing with a pair of walks and one earned run over 2 2/3 innings.
The Blue Jays called up outfielder Ezequiel Carrera and pitcher Scott Copeland in corresponding roster moves.
