Homer Bailey: Will Have Tommy John Surgery
Bailey will undergo Tommy John surgery.
Analysis:
This seemed like the inevitable conclusion once Bailey was placed on the 60-day disabled list. The Reds explored other possibilities for a few days, but the right-hander apparently needs surgery to repair a torn UCL. Given the timing, Bailey figures to miss a good chunk of the 2016 season, and possibly even the entire year. Bailey's contract runs through 2019, and he'll turn 29 on Sunday.
