Brewers' Braun day-to-day with rib cage strain
Milwaukee Brewers slugger Ryan Braun is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies with a rib cage strain.
Braun suffered the injury while tracking a fly ball during the fourth inning of Monday's Opening Day 10-0 rout. He went 0-for-2 before getting lifted from the contest.
The right fielder, who underwent offseason thumb surgery, is coming off the worst campaign of his career. Braun, the 2011 National League MVP and 2012 runner-up, hit 19 homers and posted a .777 OPS over 135 games. It marked the first time in eight seasons Braun's OPS was south of .800.
Braun said the results of an MRI were encouraging, but offered no timetable for a return.
Gerardo Parra is taking Braun's spot in right field and batting sixth in the Brewers' lineup.
