Cardinals' Wainwright diagnosed with abdominal strain

St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright is dealing with an abdominal strain and will be held out of workouts for a few days, general manager John Mozeliak said Thursday.
Wainwright, who suffered the injury during a weight-room session Monday, is expected to need up to two weeks to fully recover.
"Best news we could have gotten," Mozeliak told reporters. He added the injury doesn't affect Wainwright's ability to pitch, though his workouts are expected to be limited nonetheless.
Wainwright is on a delayed throwing program this spring after undergoing minor offseason surgery on his surgically repaired elbow.
