Rays' Jennings says knee is '100 percent' healthy
Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Desmond Jennings provided an encouraging update Monday at Tropicana Field regarding the status of the wonky left knee that sidelined him for all of September.
"One hundred percent, and ready to play some baseball," Jennings told Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. "I feel good."
Jennings enjoyed another fine season in 2014 - his third consecutive campaign with at least 3.2 wins above replacement - but was limited to just 123 games, his fewest since his rookie season. The 28-year-old has required a stint on the disabled list in two of the last three seasons, and said his goal in 2015 is to stay healthy from April to October.
"Injury-free, that's what I'm going for," he said.
Jennings managed a 105 wRC+ with 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 2014, and remains one of the more prominent faces in Tampa Bay's lineup following a radical offseason overhaul by newly-hired general manager Matt Silverman.
