Anthony Ranaudo: Traded To Rangers
Ranaudo was traded to the Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for Robbie Ross.
Analysis:
It was pretty clear that the Red Sox did not see enough from Ranaudo in his seven starts last season to view him as a starting pitcher long term. He had a 4.81 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and just 15 strikeouts in 39.1 innings, so it is hard to blame them from moving on. The Rangers, on the other hand, could very much use some added starting pitching depth. Ranaudo will be given a chance to compete for a spot in the rotation during spring training, but if he does not win the No. 5 starter spot, he will likely start the season as a starter with Triple-A Round Rock. Still, everything still points to him eventually being a reliever full time in the not-so-distant future.
