The Colorado Rockies avoided arbitration with reliever Adam Ottavino on Monday by agreeing to a one-year deal for the 2015 campaign worth a reported $1.3 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Ottavino, a first-round pick in the 2006 draft, fashioned a 3.60 ERA (119 ERA+) over a career-high 75 appearances in 2014, posting a career-best 4.38 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 65 innings.
The 29-year-old is expected to reprise his role as setup man to veteran closer LaTroy Hawkins in 2015, though he could see the occasional save opportunity after leading Colorado's relief corps with a 25.7-percent strikeout rate last season (min. 40 IP).
