Pelfrey (elbow) said Saturday that he'll go into spring training healthy and ready to compete for a rotation spot, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
Surgery to relieve pressure on the ulnar nerve in Pelfrey's right elbow effectively ended the 31-year-old's 2014 season in June, but he was able to resume throwing bullpen sessions before the end of September. He was then able to go through his normal offseason routine, and will now look to start anew after going 5-16 with a 5.56 ERA in his first two years with the Twins. He could be a bullpen option if he fails to claim a rotation spot.
