Report: Diamondbacks agree to minor league deal with Henry Rodriguez
Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE
The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with hard-throwing reliever Henry Rodriguez, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Rodriguez, 27, has been plagued by elbow soreness in recent years, and made just two appearances for the Miami Marlins last season before his release in June.
Rodriguez enjoyed his most productive campaign as a member of the Washington Nationals in 2011, pitching to a 3.56 ERA and 9.6 K/9 rate across 59 games. He's made a combined 62 appearances since.
The right-hander still boasts 100-mph potential, but it remains to be seen if he can harness his velocity with better control. Rodriguez has averaged close to a walk per inning during his last three seasons.
