Angels agree to terms with Santiago, Ramos
The Los Angeles Angels avoided arbitration with a pair of left-handers on Thursday, agreeing to a one-year, $2.29-million deal with Hector Santiago and a one-year, $1.3-million deal with Cesar Ramos, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
Santiago made 24 of his 30 appearances as a starter in 2014, going 6-9 with a 3.75 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 127 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old is expected to begin the season in the Angels' rotation due to injuries to Garrett Richards and Tyler Skaggs.
Ramos was acquired from the Rays in November after spending the past four seasons in Tampa Bay. The 30-year-old posted a 3.70 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 82 2/3 innings last season while striking out 66. Ramos also saw time in the Rays' rotation in 2014, making seven starts earlier in the year.
