Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn's roster upheaval has expanded to behind the plate.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported that the White Sox are close to a deal with free-agent catcher George Kottaras.
The 31-year-old veteran saw time with three different teams last year, appearing in a total of 18 games for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays.
Kottaras, who owns a career .215/.326/.411 batting line, figures to provide depth at the position behind returning backstops Tyler Flowers and Adrian Nieto.
