Cespedes willing to play any outfield position for Red Sox
Yoenis Cespedes's future with the Boston Red Sox grew increasingly uncertain after the club agreed to contracts with both Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez over the past 48 hours. However, the 29-year-old claims he will accommodate his new teammates if he's still with the club on Opening Day.
Cespedes told manager John Farrell on Monday that he's open to playing both center field and right field in 2015, reports Alex Speier of WEEI.com.
Though he has limited experience in left and hasn't logged a single inning in right field, a position change could be necessary for Cespedes if the club opts to install Ramirez in left field - a move that seems likely if the Red Sox don't trade Xander Bogaerts this winter.
Cespedes, though, remains among the likeliest of trade candidates for the Red Sox. He has just one season remaining on his contract and doesn't figure to factor into the club's long-term plans.
