Report: Diamondbacks have interest in Yasmany Tomas
The various teams interested in Cuban free agent Yasmany Tomas will reportedly have to contend with the Arizona Diamondbacks this offseason for the 24-year-old's services.
One MLB executive said the Diamondbacks have interest in Tomas, who is expected to meet with numerous clubs at the upcoming winter meetings in San Diego, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.
Lauded for his power, Tomas would be a welcome addition to the Diamondbacks, a team that managed a pedestrian .127 isolated power last season and didn't have a single player reach the 20-homer plateau.
Several teams have already been identified as suitors for Tomas - the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies are both expected to pursue him - and the Cuban defector is reportedly seeking a deal in excess of the seven-year, $72.5-million contract Rusney Castillo received from the Boston Red Sox.
