Giants players receive record playoff shares for winning World Series
It pays to win.
The average full share awarded to members of the World Series-winning San Francisco Giants was a record $388,605.94, which was divided up from a grand pot of $22,329,526.27.
San Francisco issued 47 full shares, 9.65 partial shares and 17 cash awards.
Kansas City Royals players earned a nice cut, as well. The players' pool for the American League pennant winners was $14,886,350.85, and each person who collected a full share received $230,669.73.
Players who received a full share from the St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles - the League Championship Series runner-ups - each took home over $100,000.
Simply making the postseason put some extra cash in players' bank accounts.
Members of the wild-card losing Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland Athletics who collected full shares each came away with north of $15,000.
The 58 full shares issued by the Washington Nationals was the most among the 10 playoff teams.
