The MLB owners have decided the fate of commissioner-elect Rob Manfred.
The owners unanimously approved a five-year term for Manfred at a meeting in Kansas City on Thursday, commissioner Bud Selig announced.
Manfred will officially become the 10th commissioner of Major League Baseball on Jan. 25 when he takes the reins from Selig.
One of Manfred's first items of business once he assumes the responsibility will be the pace-of-game issue, which was experimented with using a time clock during Arizona Fall League play.
