Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria avoided serious injury after being hit by a pitch during an exhibition game Tuesday, while with an MLB All-Star team in Japan.
Longoria was drilled in the left forearm in the third inning and played another half-inning before being removed for precautionary reasons. He was diagnosed with a bruise and did not undergo any further testing, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
The 29-year-old hit .308 with one home run during the five-game Japan All-Star series. MLB's tour of Japan ends Thursday with an exhibition game in Okinawa.
