Russell Martin is coming home.
Martin, a three-time All-Star born just east of downtown Toronto, finalized a new five-year contract with the Blue Jays on Tuesday morning, the club announced.
Though the team did not immediately disclose financial terms of the contract, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that Martin is will earn $82 million over the next five seasons.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, meanwhile, noted that Martin is set to earn just $7 million in 2015, the first season of a decidedly back-loaded contract.
Martin's deal represents the biggest contract ever handed out by Alex Anthopoulos, who took over as general manager of the Blue Jays in October of 2009.
