It appears Boston Red Sox outfielder Rusney Castillo will be playing some baseball this winter in preparation for the 2015 season.

Castillo has been cleared to play winter ball in Puerto Rico after suffering a thumb injury that cut his play in the Arizona Fall League short, reports Rob Bradford of WEEI.

The plan is to get Castillo 100 at-bats when he joins the Criollos de Caguas on Nov. 26.

Boston took a huge gamble on the 27-year-old Cuban, inking him to a seven-year, $72.5-million deal in August.
